Transport infrastructure is the “X-factor” in investor’s decisions on how to spend, the Invest Thames Gateway transport report will say today. The data shows that 81 per cent of senior business people rate transport as more critical to their decision to invest now than five years ago. While 46 per cent said features like teleconferencing were “no substitute for real time face-to-face contact”. Professor Austin Smyth, head of the department of transport studies at Westminster University wrote the report, which urges the importance of transport infrastructure in being economically successful. Smyth said: “Transport infrastructure represents the future for both business locations and business.  In the future access to integrated transport networks be among the most influential factors for investors.”
