Tottenham star named Premier League’s best in his position – and it’s not Harry Kane or Dele Alli
Although Tottenham's season now looks unlikely to finish with the Premier League trophy after drawing with West Brom last night, they have not been short of plaudits.
Breakout star Dele Alli was named PFA Young Player of the Year this weekend while Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld were all named in the PFA's team of the year.
And now keeper Hugo Lloris has received recognition for an impressive campaign after being named the best performing keeper in the Premier League by CIES Football Observatory, an academic research group based in Switzerland.

France keeper Lloris has been the seventh best keeper in Europe's top five leagues (Spain, Germany, France, Italy and England) this season according to CIES' rankings, which take into account the number of goals conceded per match and the percentage of shots saved.
Lloris has saved 73.9 per cent of the shots faced throughout Spurs' campaign so far, and has conceded 0.8 goals per match.
However, other rankings which measure the quality of chances faced, rather than just total number of shots which doesn't discriminate between long range and close range attempts on goal, place Lloris lower down the rankings.
For example, a ranking of how a keeper's actual goals conceded compared to expected goals conceded, places West Ham's Adrian at the top.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer – who in 2014 became the first keeper to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or in 12 years – who sits atop of CIES' list.
Jan Oblak, the last line of defence in the ultra-solid Atletico Madrid machine, follows in second place.
Aston Villa's Brad Guzan has been the worst keeper in Europe's top five leagues according to CIES, having saved just 59.5 per cent of shots.
