Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli set to miss rest of season after accepting violent conduct charge

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is set to miss the remainder of the domestic season after accepting a Football Association charge of violent conduct.

The charge, which usually carries a three-game suspension, relates to an incident during Monday night’s 1-1 draw with West Brom at White Hart Lane where the 20-year-old appeared to punch Claudio Yacob in the stomach.

If found guilty, recently-crowned Professional Footballers’ Association Young Player of the Year Alli is likely to be ruled out of Tottenham’s remaining clashes against Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle.

Alli’s potential loss is the latest blow to Tottenham’s increasingly forlorn bid to rein in Premier League leaders Leicester.

The Foxes can win the league with victory against Manchester United on Sunday, while even if Leicester lose, defeat to Chelsea on Monday evening would end Tottenham’s hope.
