Torres back for Liverpool opener

FOOTBALL: Liverpool expect striker Fernando Torres to recover from injury in time for their Premier League opener against Arsenal on 15 August.

But the Spain star, who faces four weeks out with a thigh tear, will miss the start of their Europa League campaign.

“He had an MRI scan yesterday which confirmed a small tear,” said Liverpool doctor Peter Brukner. “He should be able to resume training within two to three weeks and be able to play again within three to four weeks.”
