MOTORSPORT: Racing chiefs are in mourning following the death of Donington Park motor racing track owner Tom Wheatcroft from a long illness. He was 87.
Wheatcroft bought Donington for £100,000 in 1971 and restored the circuit to F1 standard, hosting the European Grand Prix in 1993.
His death comes at the end of a difficult week for Donington chiefs, whose hopes of hosting the 2010 British Grand Prix were dashed through lack of cash.
