PORTOBELLO RISTORANTE PIZZERIA
Much-loved local pizzeria that specialises in something called “pizzametro”, which means ‘pizza metre’ – an idea born in a small town in Sorrento as a way for the whole family to share a pizza. Served on a wooden chopping board, the pizza here is generously topped with good ingredients, and baked in the wood-burning oven.
7 Ladbroke Road, W11 3PA. tel: 0207 221 1373

LA PORCHETTA
It has five locations but nevertheless manages to keep up a deeply convincing family feel – this is the type of place where people’s birthdays are heralded with hearty singing and lots of red wine. Pizza dough is made daily and the generously applied toppings are simple classics like capers, Italian sausage and anchovies. For a location near you, go to www.laporchettapizzeria.co.uk.

ROSSOPOMODORO
Committed Neapolitan pizzeria that makes sure everything from coffee to pasta is from Campania in Naples. Pizzas are generous and well-formed, and don’t try to get too fancy. Favourites include the Verduretta, with aubergines and parmesan and the Acerrana, with sun-dried tomatoes and caciocavallo cheese.
