RHODES 24
Gary Rhodes’ Michelin-starred establishment sits on the 24th floor of the City’s highest building, so – unless the windows were blacked out – it would be hard to find better views at any restaurant in London. Ogle the rooftops and the shiny sides of skyscrapers while you sup on well-executed British haute-cuisine. Tower 42, 25 Old Broad Street, EC2N 1HQ, tel: 020 7877 7842.

SKYLON
Finnish chef Helena Puolakka presides over one of the most exciting dining spaces in the UK. In the heart of the Southbank Centre, Skylon has front row seats on the river and the bustling riverside. Seeing the bright lights of the big city and its river while supping on Puolakka’s posh nosh is a unique pleasure. Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Rd, SE1 8XX, tel: 020 7654 7800.

HIGH TIMBER
On the ground floor of a riverside building tucked away off Lower Thames Street, High Timber has treats in store for you when you do find your way there. You can ogle the Globe theatre, tugboats or any number of other riverside attractions. The steak is almost as good as the view and the wine cellar contains 40,000 bottles. 8 High Timber Street, EC4V 3PA, Tel: 0207 248 1777.
