THREE OTHER KENSINGTON RESTAURANTS

BABYLON
Sitting seven floors up atop the Kensington Roof Gardens, Babylon has some pretty splendid views out over West London – and indeed over the gardens’ flamingo pond – to distract you from its stonkingly expensive menu. There’s jazz on Thursday evenings. The Roof Gardens, 99 Kensington High Street, W8 5ED. www.roofgardens.virgin.com.

CASA BRINDISA
There’s three tapas restaurants bearing the Brindisa name in London now, including the famous Borough Market flagship, Soho’s Tierra Brindisa and South Ken’s Casa Brindisa. At the latter you get back-to-basics tapas in a buzzy, enjoyable atmosphere, and there’s also a deli and jamoneria selling lots of delectable Spanish goodies. 7-9 Exhibition Road, SW7 2HE. www.tapasbrindisa.com.

LAUNCESTON PLACE
Now established as a west London foodie favourite since a makeover a year and a bit ago, with chef Tristan Welch getting the best out of dishes like Devonshire Duckling with apples and alexanders, and stargazey pie (Cornish fish pie). In the private dining room you can watch look in on the kitchen via a TV link. 1a Launceston Place, W8 5RL. www.launcestonplace–restaurant.co.uk.
