The Tesla Model 3 attracts 276,000 pre-orders in three days, reveals Elon Musk

Pre-orders of the Tesla Model 3 currently total 276,000, according to the firm's founder and chief executive.

Elon Musk unveiled Tesla's “car of the people” on Thursday and has been keeping his Twitter followers up-to-date on its progress.

In his latest update, Musk revealed that pre-orders reached 276,000 by the end of Saturday. And he recommended others get their orders in fast.

The average price of a Model 3 is $42,000 (£29,500), including the price of options and additional features.

A Model 3 order gives you priority in your geography, so, even tho total count is high, ordering early will make a big difference locally.

The new five-door sedan Model 3 will go from 0-60mph in less than six seconds and have a range of at least 215 miles.

To pre-order, customers must pay a deposit of £1,000, although this is refundable.

Musk said he will give another update on pre-orders on Wednesday.
