AFTER what seems like the most drawn-out and oppressive winter in living memory, even the briefest chink of Spring sunlight can be enough to have one blinking as though into a bright new dawn. Well, good – all the more excuse to indulge in those most seasonal of fashion accessories, smart sunnies. Whether you’re whisking yourself away to a far-flung sandy beach, swanning around a European city or sitting in the back garden with a good book, you want to be doing it in style, and that requires some sleek and chic eyewear.

This year ladies’ shades, while still big and glamorous, have got a little subtler with some restrained nude tones, while for chaps the influence of Mad Men’s Don Draper continues with sharp, vintage-style specs, with smaller wayfarer designs holding sway over aviators for now.
