The Queen backs Europe(an Refrigeration): Essex-based cooling solutions supplier gets a royal warrant

News reaches The Capitalist that, contrary to past reports, HRH Queen Elizabeth II has shown support for Europe.

Well, European regulations on white goods, anyway. European Refrigeration, a family-run commercial supplier of fridges and air conditioning equipment in Essex, has received the seal of approval from the most prestigious of customers and has been granted a royal warrant.

Earlier this year Buckingham Palace denied claims that the Queen harbours eurosceptic views, stating she is "politically neutral", after The Sun ran a front page story under the headline "Queen backs Brexit".

The Palace has complained to Independent Press Standards Organisation over the allegations by The Sun.

The news may come as a shock to some who have criticised the EU's restrictive policies on energy-saving electronics. Earlier this year, Scotland's only UKIP MEP lashed out at the European Union's commitment to energy saving, claiming his EU approved toaster had "the power of one candle or something".

The warrant is effective from 1st April 2016 for a five-year period, granting the firm the right to display the Queen’s coat of arms.

Royal warrants are granted to companies or people who have regularly supplied goods or services to either the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh or the Prince of Wales for at least five consecutive years, and who have an ongoing trading arrangement. Warrants are currently held by the likes of Fortnum and Mason, Cadbury and mixer maker Schwepps.

European Refrigeration currently trades with businesses in Essex, London and the Home Counties, but have execs now set their eyes on international expansion? A delighted Derek Murton, Chairman and Director of European Refrigeration Limited, said: "I feel so privileged and proud that my Company has been granted this Royal Warrant and we are sure that this accolade will serve to enhance our reputation and attract a broader network of clients."
