TOMORROW’S Ascot meeting starts with a couple of impossible Group Three’s. Based on results from the last meeting, we should ignore anything drawn lower than 12. The highest rated horse between stalls 12-18 is Red Avalanche (16), but I think this beast needs more cut than Ascot will offer. Don’t Tell Mary (12) is returning from injury, Piccadilly Filly (18), Vanishing Grey (14) and Aalsmeer (13) don’t look good enough, which leaves only YURITUNI (17) at a decent e/w price. However, it is possible that Jamie Spencer (stall one) will grab hold of his mount’s head looking to move across allowing two speed merchants in TAAJUB (2) and ABOVE LIMITS (3) to stay straight, grab the stand rail and possibly cause an upset whilst the rest of the field drift over to the far side. As such, back both in a reverse forecast.
Based on the above criteria, the winner of the Willmott Dixon Bengough Memorial Stakes should come out of stalls 14-20. William Haggas’s TRIPLE ASPECT (18) is the highest rated of them and should be backed to win back-to-back runnings of this event for the stable. I would also look to have a couple of pounds e/w on MULLEIN (15) for inform trainer Ralph Beckett.
