■ There are 137 CFA societies in 59 countries.

■ Over the past three years, enrollment in the CFA programme was up 21 per cent in Asia-Pacific, dwarfing 6 per cent growth in Europe and a 1 per cent rise in the Americas.

■ Since 2007, the number of CFA charterholders in China has more than doubled – up from 1,153 to 2,431 in 2012.

■ Australia has also seen strong growth. The number of CFA charterholders increased from 929 in 2007 to 1,651 in 2012.

■ Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Guam and Papua New Guinea each had one CFA charterholder in 2012.

■ The number of new UK candidate registrations for the CFA programme increased from 4,873 in 2010 to 6,026 in 2012.

■ UK charterholders are more likely to work in risk management investment roles than their Asia-Pacific equivalents.
