Tevez and Eto’o on wish-list for Hughes’ City revolution

MARK HUGHES has confirmed he is targeting striker Carlos Tevez to join his Manchester City revolution.

Hughes beat off competition from several high-profile rivals to land England midfielder Gareth Barry in a £12m deal on Tuesday.

Now he is looking to press on with his pursuit of Tevez, who has come to the end of his two-year loan spell at city rivals Manchester United. And an audacious swoop for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o is also in the pipeline, according to reports last night.

Tevez’s advisor Kia Joorabchian yesterday held talks with United about extending the Argentina international’s stay at Old Trafford, but it is understood the newly-crowned Premier League champions are unwilling to meet the hefty £32m price tag.

That leaves mega-rich City waiting to pounce, and boss Hughes admits Tevez is very much on his radar.

“Carlos Tevez is a good player,” he said. “If good players become available then obviously every manager is interested.”

Eto’o would be an even bigger coup, and is thought ready to leave Barcelona. City are said to be confident of getting the £30m-rated Cameroon international, who has one year left on his contract at Camp Nou. Another player on Hughes’ wish-list is Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, who is set to leave Bayern Munich.

The 34-year-old is only being offered a one-year contract extension by the German giants but is after a two-year deal. Insisting his future will be decided “in the next few days”, Ze Roberto said: “Manchester City is quite high on the list. They want to play internationally and I should help them achieve that goal.”

But while one Brazilian could be arriving at the club, another looks set to exit with midfielder Elano talking up his hopes of joining Italian champions Inter Milan.
