Taylor Wimpey chief executive Pete Redfern launches a major review into UK home ownership with Labour shadow minister John Healey
Taylor Wimpey chief executive Pete Redfern will today launch a major review into British home ownership, at the request of Labour shadow housing minister John Healey.
The new, independent review will be carried out by Redfern and a panel of expert advisers, including former Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) member Kate Barker and Andy Gray, former managing director of mortgages at Barclays.
Healey told City PM he set up the independent review, which will report at the end of the summer, because “despite everything the government is saying and doing, home ownership is in free-fall”.
Redfern told City PM he aims to provide an independent assessment of home ownership policies, saying: “The fact that it is an independent review makes a massive difference.”
Redfern said the panel will look at “what is good in current policy, and what is moving things forward, and what some of the barriers are”.
