SWANSEA manager Michael Laudrup says his team’s 3-0 away win at 10-man Valencia shows they can compete with Europe’s best.

Valencia defender Adil Rami was sent off on 10 minutes for a professional foul on Wilfried Bony and Bony netted four minutes later, before second-half goals from Michu and Jonathan de Guzman sealed an emphatic victory in the Swans first Europa League group match.

“It is a fantastic evening and a fantastic result,” said Laudrup.

“I am so pleased for everybody because now they know they can play against the biggest clubs in the biggest stadiums without any problem and that’s great to see.”

Elsewhere, FA Cup winners Wigan held Zulte Waregem to a 0-0 draw in Bruges in their first-ever European tie.
