Sunderland boss David Moyes has confirmed that he hopes to lure Manchester United duo Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj to the Stadium of Light as the Black Caps embark upon a recruitment drive.

Former Everton and United manager Moyes was handed the Sunderland reins on 23 July after incumbent Sam Allardyce was appointed England boss and successor to Roy Hodgson.

The Wearside club are yet to strengthen their squad this summer, although Fellaini, who Moyes has bought twice previously, and Januzaj, a player handed his United debut by the Scot, feature on their shopping list.

“If any one of those players want to join us, I would be happy to have them because they are excellent players,” said Moyes. “We are interested, but I am sure a host of other clubs are too.

“We’ll get signings in. We’ve got offers in just now and I am hoping to get things done quite quickly.”

Southampton, meanwhile, have signed Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy on a three-year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £4m, plus bonuses.
