Bruce set for Sunderland job
SUNDERLAND are today expected to confirm the appointment of Wigan boss Steve Bruce as manager.

Bruce is set to sign a three-year contract thought to be worth £60,000 per week at the Stadium of Light, after the two clubs agreed compensation earlier this week.

The former Birmingham manager, who steered Wigan to 11th place in the Premier League last season, is expected to take his backroom team with him.

Adams hints at Celtic role
FORMER Portsmouth boss Tony Adams says he will be the new Celtic manager if ‘good friend’ Wim Jansen is appointed technical director of the club.

Ex-Arsenal skipper Adams, who has been out of work since his sacking at Fratton Park in February, said yesterday: “Wim Jansen is probably in at Celtic. It would be him as technical director and me as manager.”

Rovers clinch first signing
BLACKBURN boss Sam Allardyce has made South Africa international Elrio van Heerden his first summer signing.

Van Heerden, 25, can play anywhere across the midfield and arrives on a free transfer from Belgian side Club Brugge, where he has spent to past three seasons.

Cisse wants Tottenham switch
DJIBRIL CISSE has issued a “come and get me” plea to Tottenham after failing to land a permanent deal at Sunderland.

“It is a really good team and a really good stadium and good atmosphere,” said Cisse, who is back at parent club Marseille following a loan spell. “But at the moment it is only talk.”
