Spurs switch attention to £18m Son

TOTTENHAM have turned their attention to signing South Korea forward Heung-Min Son from Bayer Leverkusen after failing to persuade West Brom to sell Saido Berahino.

Son, who has scored 29 goals in 87 appearances for the German club and can play anywhere across the front three, was left out of their Champions League fixture with Lazio last night amid suggestions of an £18m offer from Spurs. The north London club have had two offers, the second in excess of £20m, for England Under-21 striker Berahino rejected by Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace, who has repeatedly stated his opposition to selling the 22-year-old.

Tottenham want one more forward to ease the goalscoring burden on England’s Harry Kane, having already paid Lyon £11m for Cameroon international Clinton Njie.

Kane is yet to score in Spurs’ three games so far this season. The transfer window shuts on Tuesday.
