Wolves and Stoke draw blank
FOOTBALL: Wolves inched closer to ensuring their survival with a 0-0 draw at home to Stoke.

The visitors enjoyed the bulk of the chances, with centre-back Abdoulaye Faye missing three on his own.

But a stalemate leaves Wolves six points clear of the relegation zone with their rivals having just four or five games left to play.

Classy Toulouse into last four
RUGBY UNION: Toulouse swept Stade Francais aside 42-16 to reach the Heineken Cup semi-finals.

Rodrigo Roncero touched down to put Stade ahead but Toulouse hit back in style with tries from Yannick Jauzion, Patrice Albacete and Cedric Heymans.

Toulouse will face Leinster in the last four, with Munster meeting Biarritz in the other semi-final.

Saker backed by old pal Warne
CRICKET: Australia legend Shane Warne has tipped England to benefit from the appointment of his former team-mate David Saker as bowling coach.

Warne played with Saker at Victoria and said: “He was a very good player, very passionate about the game of cricket and understands bowling very well.

“He’ll be excellent for the England dressing room. He can be a little in-your-face at times and pretty aggressive, but he’s absolutely spot on.”

Denman out of Scottish National
RACING: Denman has been pulled out of Saturday’s Scottish National by trainer Paul Nicholls.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up had been allocated top weight of 11st 12lbs for the race at Ayr.

But Nicholls said: “We’ve made an early decision not to run. It looks like a dry, warm, windy week. Even if Ayr water, the ground is not going to be right for him.”

Richards leads Wigan to victory
RUGBY LEAGUE: Super League’s top scorer Pat Richards grabbed two more tries as leaders Wigan triumphed 18-4 at Salford.

Richards, who now has 15 tries this season, also kicked three goals as Wigan took advantage of their nearest challengers Warrington’s defeat at Hull KR.
