Adams retains his BDO title
DARTS: Martin Adams clinched his third BDO World Darts title after overcoming a spirited challenge from Lakeside debutant Dean Winstanley. ‘Wolfie’, 53, the defending champion, looked in trouble when he trailed 5-4, but he drew on all his experience to triumph 7-5. Adams said: “I had to dig deep, Deano had me in all sorts of problems.”

Selby crashes out of Masters
SNOOKER: World No16 Mark King knocked out defending champion Mark Selby in the opening round of the Masters. King recovered from 2-0 down to defeat Selby, world No6, 6-4. King, who will face Shaun Murphy or Jamie Cope in the quarter-finals, said: “Mark is a fantastic player and this is like his back yard, but he won the second frame and put his cue up and it gave me the hump a bit. He was pleased to win the second frame on the black but I thought, ‘Hang on, you’re only 2-0 up’.”

Williams ready to resume racing
WINTER SPORTS: Olympic skeleton champion Amy Williams will resume World Cup racing this week in Austria. The 28-year-old Briton has missed the first half of the season but will compete alongside Shelley Rudman on Friday. Williams, who became the first individual British gold medallist for 30 years at a Winter Games, said: “I always want to do the best I can. But I have to remember everyone else has been competing for three months.”
