Signal failure at Kings Cross brings Circle, Hammersmith & City Lines to standstill and delays on District and Metropolitan Lines as chaos descends at Victoria Station

A signal failure at King's Cross was causing major disruption on the Tube network this morning, while commuters posted pictures of chaotic scenes at Victoria Station.

Overcrowding at Victoria meant passengers were unable to get onto the Underground, and were queuing out into the train station. 

Commuters complained that this was the second day in a row that they had put up with a poor service. 

One commuter said she had to wait for nine trains before being able to continue her journey.

There were severe delays on the entire Circle and Hammersmith & City Line because of the fault during rush hour.

"Please avoid using the line if at all possible," the operator said regarding both lines. TfL was advising commuters to seek alternative routes in, including using local buses.

The Metropolitan Line was down between Baker Street and Aldgate while there were severe delays between Wembley Park and Baker Street, Transport for London said.

The District Line is also suffering from minor delays between Earl's Court and Wimbledon/Richmond because of the same problem.

And the fault was causing disruption throughout the Tube network, with commuters complaining lines were affected as far out as Harrow.
