Severn Trent water announces new chair

Severn Trent announced this morning that Christine Hodgson had been appointed as the next chair of the FTSE 100 water company.

Hodgson will succeed Andrew Duff in April 2020, having joined the board as a non-executive director from 1 January.

She is currently the chair of Capgemini, one of the world’s largest technology and professional services groups.

Since joining the French company in 1997, she has held roles including chief financial officer for Capgemini UK, chief executive of technology services, and global head of corporate social responsibility.

Kevin Beeston, Severn Trent’s senior independent director who led the planned succession process, said: 

“I am delighted that Christine will be joining the company as our new chair. I believe that she brings the right mix of board and business skills and experience, as well as a real understanding of our culture and commitment to serve all of our stakeholders well.

Duff, who leaves the company after nine years in charge, said:  “Severn Trent is a great company and one that I have been incredibly proud to work for.

Severn Trent provides water to homes and businesses across the Midlands and parts of Wales and the South West.

Ofwat announced yesterday that customer satisfaction scores for Severn Trent and its Welsh subsidiary Hafren Dyfrdwy had declined significantly over the last year.
