SOFTWARE company Sage Group has appointed Steve Hare as its new finance chief (CFO), a role that has been covered by acting finance chief Darren Fisher after the company’s last executive left to join WANdisco in August.

“Steve brings considerable finance and business expertise developed with global companies, augmented by operational experience gained with private equity,” said chief executive Guy Berruyer.

“This appointment further strengthens our executive team and he will play a key role in driving forward our strategy and realising our growth ambitions.”

Hare, a partner at Apax Partners who previously worked as CFO at public companies Invensys, Spectris and Marconi, will take over the role from 3 January 2014.

“Sage is an excellent business with a proven business model and a strong track record of creating value for shareholders. This is a great time to be joining Sage as it builds on these successes and delivers on its strategy to accelerate growth,” said Hare on his appointment.

Sage’s previous finance chief, Paul Harrison, left the company in August to join Sheffield-based software firm WANdisco.

Sage will announce its preliminary results on 3 December.
