Sadiq Khan: Londoners who get their first Covid vaccine can win Euro 2020 final tickets

In order to enter the ticket prize draw, Londoners must show proof they've been to a walk-in vaccination centre for their first jab, or proof that they've booked an appointment.

The Mayor of London is putting up tickets to the Euro 2020 final that Londoners have a chance to win if they sign up for their first vaccine.

As part of a drive to get more Londoners vaccinated, Sadiq Khan is putting up one pair of tickets for Sunday’s final at Wembley and 50 pairs for the fan zone in Trafalgar Square.

In order to enter the ticket prize draw, Londoners must show proof they’ve been to a walk-in vaccination centre for their first jab, or proof that they’ve booked an appointment.

Those who post about having or booking their first vaccine on social media will be entered into the draw twice, the mayor’s office said in a statement.

Pundits predict England are the favourites to win the semi-final match with Denmark on Wednesday and push through to the final on Sunday.

Tickets for the weekend showdown are currently extremely difficult to get your hands on – making Khan’s prize draw even more of an attractive prospect.

People can enter the online draw from Wednesday, and full details can be found on the mayor’s social media.

The prize draw is the latest tactic employed by the mayor and the government to increase London’s uptake of the vaccine – which has been slightly behind other regions in the UK.

Mass vaccination events have been held at many of London’s football stadiums including Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and Watford’s Vicarage Road Stadium the past few weekends.

The mass vaccination drive at centres where no appointment is necessary is part of the government’s “grab a jab” campaign to deliver as many first doses as possible to over-18s before the 19 July full reopening – what NHS chief Sir Simon Stevens dubbed a “race to the finish line”.
