Betting: Ruthless United to push nervous Norwich closer to relegation trap-door

When Norwich beat Newcastle just over a month ago, the Canaries were six points clear of the Magpies, and four clear of the drop zone.

But they welcome Manchester United to Carrow Road on Saturday lunchtime after three successive defeats, and are now two points behind Newcastle and safety.

While that win, and another the week before against West Brom, gave them hope, the Canaries form since the turn of the year has been dreadful. They’ve won just three out of 16 league games in 2016.

Louis van Gaal’s United are facing problems of their own. Despite reaching the FA Cup final, they still sit four points off the Champions League positions, and the Dutchman’s job remains in jeopardy.

United have found form, however, winning four on the bounce before last week’s draw against champions-elect Leicester.

The Red Devils are 5/6 to win again on Saturday, and I can’t see any other result.

Norwich have lost all momentum and heads really seemed to drop in their last home match – a 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.

They have struggled for goals all season. The last time they found the net was Martin Olsson’s injury-time winner against Newcastle a month ago. United have hardly set the world alight this year, but they have enough going forward to pierce the Canaries’ leaky defence.

With a top four place still possible, I expect a routine victory for the Red Devils. Incredibly, United have only scored 43 times in 35 league games this term – a far cry from the attacking swagger of Sir Alex Ferguson.

I suggest spread bettors sell total goals at 2.55 with Sporting Index.

POINTERS

Man Utd 5/6 (Betway)
