MANCHESTER UNITED striker Wayne Rooney roared back to goalscoring form with a brace which helped his side equal a club record run of 29 league games unbeaten.
United roared out of the traps and were ahead after just 50 seconds when Rooney collected Edwin van der Sar’s long punt and thrashed a shot up and over Brad Friedel.
The England striker was on target again on the stroke of half-time when he met Nani’s cross from the right with an neat volley at the far post.
Darren Bent hauled the visitors back into the contest shortly before the hour with a typically sure-footed finish, but Nemanja Vidic’s cracking finish from an acute angle five minutes later wrapped up the victory.
