Who is the fastest runner in Canada? The Capitalist has challenged City runners to beat the banker by submitting their Virgin Money London Marathon race times and we've already seen some pretty impressive times come in.

Fit as a proverbial fiddle, Bank of England governor Mark Carney was commended for completing his run in a formidable three hours, 31 minutes and 22 seconds – not bad for a central banker who just turned 50 last month and raised close to £60,000 for charity while he was pounding the pavement.

Carney beat 53-year-old Barclays chief executive Antony Jenkins in the high-finance battle by an hour and a half.

Carney’s time of 03:31:22 was faster than the men’s average of 04:04:30, and faster than the average for his age band (50 to 54), which was 04:02:31.
