Property of the Week: Supercar superfans will swoon at this family house with a showroom in the basement

If you’re a supercar superfan, then having secure parking space to keep your pride and joy clean and safe is paramount. However, this house on the market on Winnington Road in Hampstead goes several steps beyond that with this impressive car showroom.

The current owner has been living in the property with his family but decided to rebuild the back of the house four years ago. And when he did, he installed a drive-in car lift that took his wheels down to the basement where there is showroom lighting and even turning circles so you can display your cars at different angles.

“A lot of properties have underground garages but not fitted out like this, this is something special,” says Marc Schneiderman from Arlington Residential, the agent dealing with the sale. “It’s beautifully done, I don’t think you could do it any better. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before.”

He describes the vendor as a “car enthusiast” and is looking for a buyer that’s similarly minded. “The key is we’ve got to find someone who appreciates that garage. Not everybody will want to have it, but creating it was major work,” he says.

The games room, which is adjacent to the showroom has a glass wall from which to admire the cars, but it has an expensive secret. Below the floor is a swimming pool that’s been dug out, before he changed his mind and converted the space. If the new owner wants a pool, all they have to do is take up the floor.

The seven bedroom house comprises 10,000sqft of space and is on an attractive road next to the world famous Bishop’s Avenue, or Billionaire’s Row. “Winnington Road is managed by the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust, so you have to retain where possible the facade of the house so that the road does not become a road of very mixed architecture,” Schneiderman explains. It went on the market earlier this year, and is very close to both Hampstead Village and Highgate Village. Historic Kenwood House lies at the end of Hampstead Lane.

This contemporary family home also comes with a fully-integrated air-conditioning, a garage driveway, a gym and a home cinema.
