Premier League: Sluggish Spurs anger Pochettino as Baggies grab all three points

SPURS boss Mauricio Pochettino was left furious by his team’s drab performance yesterday, as the north Londoners failed to win for the third Premier League game in a row.
Playing against a West Brom side that started the day at the foot of the table, Spurs failed to register a shot on target until the 71st minute. Substitute Roberto Soldado’s effort was saved by Ben Foster, and three minutes later James Morrison headed in from a corner.
“I am angry or disappointed – I don’t know the best word to show my feelings,” said Pochettino, who moved to Spurs from Southampton in the summer.
“The beginning of the game was wrong. We were very slow, we moved the ball very slow, there was a slow tempo. In football, you need to play quick. The way that we played, I think was wrong because we played very, very slow from the beginning.”
West Brom boss Alan Irvine admitted to “an element of relief” after securing the midlands side’s first league win of the season, but added: “The over-riding emotion is one of real pleasure for the players, for the club as a whole, everybody involved and, of course, for our fans. I am more pleased than relieved.”
Spurs host high-flyers Nottingham Forest – who currently top the Championship – in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, before visiting fierce rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
