Premier League fantasy football: Five transfer suggestions including Jose Fonte, Benik Afobe and James Milner

Fantasy football players, it's time to get serious. The business end of the season is in sight. Are you deploying a second wild card to revamp your squad for the final straight? Or are you inspired by the Premier League-leading "tinkerman" and revamp your squad with some fresh blood for those in flagging form?

Here's five potential transfers to consider:

1. Joel Robles – Everton (£4.3m)

The Spanish goalkeeper has kept two consecutive clean sheets since replacing Tim Howard – who remains an injury doubt – in Everton's goal.

Everton face West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa in their next two fixtures, the two lowest scorers in the league so far this season.

2. Jose Fonte – Southampton

Southampton have shot up the table since the turn of the year, thanks to a strengthened defence which is yet to concede a single goal.

Fonte has already collected 35 points in 2016.

3.Dimitri Payet – West Ham

Payet's fantasy point-grabbing potential is no secret, with the West Ham winger selected in nearly a quarter of all teams on the Premier League official website.

Yet if you're one of those to have resisted the Frenchman's talents, it may now be time to jump on the bandwagon as West Ham face Norwich and Sunderland in their next two fixtures.

4. James Milner – Liverpool

Not fantasy captain material, but Milner – who often stands over free-kicks and corners for Liverpool – is a solid bet for a respectable points tally. No Premier League player has more assists than the industrious England player in 2016, and up next for the Reds is basement side Aston Villa.

5. Benik Afobe – Bournemouth

With three goals in four games for the Cherries, Afobe has hit the ground running since arriving in the Premier League last  month – already amassing 27 points.

New injury and suspension news:

Chelsea's Kurt Zouma has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, while Victor Wanyama of Southampton begins a whopping five-game ban after picking up his third game of the season.

Doubts:

Tim Howard is still struggling with injury and even if passed fit, may be unable to usurp Robles from between the posts.
