Power supply issue hits London Tube commuters with severe delays

A power supply problem has hit commuters along the entire length of the Jubilee Line this morning.

Severe delays have disrupted the Tube line as a result of the issue, leaving commuters to face a horrible journey to work today.

Transport for London (TfL) advised passengers their tickets would be accepted on local buses, the DLR and Thameslink as well as national rail routes.

Rail operators Southeastern and C2C have agreed to accept tickets, TfL said.

Meanwhile the London Overground was running a reduced service this morning, as a temporary timetable remains in place on the Gospel Oak to Barking route.

Four-carriage trains are running every 30 minutes with supplementary bus service also carrying commuters along the line.

It comes as unions consider a summer shutdown along the London Underground in a bitter pay dispute with transport bosses.

Both Aslef and RMT are due to ballot members on strike action that could affect much of the Tube, after both rejected TfL's offer.

The 2.5 per cent proposed hike is "way below" Aslef's demands, while RMT threatened a "London-wide" strike as it pushes for a shorter working week and better staff travel facilities.

A TfL spokesperson said: “We have held discussions with our unions to agree a new pay deal. We believe that our offer is fair and affordable and look forward to the discussions continuing."
