Potters say sorry to Euell
STOKE CITY have apologised to Blackpool midfielder Jason Euell after he was racially abused during Stoke’s Carling Cup win at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday.
Police are investigating the allegations from the 32-year-old, who has been supported by manager Ian Holloway.
A spectator, detained on the night, has been released on bail and Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes insists the club will take the appropriate action, depending on the outcome of the police enquiry.
“On behalf of Stoke City Football Club, I would like to apologise to Jason Euell, and Blackpool Football Club, for the behaviour of this supporter,” he said.
“We will take a hard line because we do not tolerate racist or abusive language of this type. We must wait for the outcome of the police investigation before imposing our sanctions upon this person. It is staggering that in this day and age people may be subjected to this kind of language.”
