Piccadilly Line commuters warned of severe delays

Severe delays are affecting the Piccadilly Line this morning due to a signal failure.

The failure at Northfields means the Tube line has severe delays between Acton Town and Uxbridge, as well as minor delays between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport.

Minor delays are also affecting the Hammersmith & City Line between Liverpool Street and Barking after an earlier signal failure at Moorgate, though a good service is running on the rest of the line.

The Metropolitan Line was also running with minor delays between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate following the issues at Moorgate, but the line is now running a good service.

A good service is running on the rest of the line.

The delays come after Transport for London (TfL) told London Overground commuters they must wait even longer for the introduction of electric trains to the troubled Gospel Oak to Barking route.

The trains were meant to have arrived last spring but were then delayed until summer, then promised for November – another blown deadline.

Now their arrival has no deadline, with TfL apologising for the delays, blamed on contractor Bombardier needing more time for software development.
