Peep toes and sky high heels make the perfect summer shoe

WHEN the mercury rises you need to keep your feet cool and summery without forfeiting the professional look. This is hardly an onerous task, thanks to the wealth of Spring/Summer shoes that are both stylish and office-appropriate – simply cut, low on straps and made from good quality leather.

Our favourite hot-weather shoes for the office tend to be of the peep toe, skyscraper variety. Online shop Net a Porter once again comes up trumps with a huge range of classy heels, from the elegant, staid end of the spectrum (Giuseppe Zanotti, Marc Jacobs, Christian Leboutin) to the wild and sexy (Balmain, Lanvin – probably best kept to after-work).

Less demanding options include Ted Baker and Reiss, both available at John Lewis. Shoes are the windows to your fashion soul. Here are our favourites.

Christian Leboutin ‘Very Prive 120 Peep Toe Pumps’
The ultimate mixture of sultry style and formal grace. The open heel is great for the heat.
£450

Marks and Spencer ‘Red Satin Peep-Toe Shoe’
Daring but undeniably elegant, especially when worn with cream.
£35

Miu Miu ‘Patent Slingback Sandal’
Pure garden party perfection, ideal with a white linen suit.
£264

Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Turquoise Peep Toe Pumps’
Beautiful clean lines make the colour more than acceptable.
£235

Ted Baker ‘Camilla Shoe’
The bow is a girlish addition to these patent stilettos.
£80

Reiss ‘Everett Shoe’
The perfect Friday shoe to wear to post-work drinks, thanks to the racy snakeskin.
£149

Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Patent Platform Pumps’
The cork platforms add a playful, beachy touch to these supremely elegant, match-all heels.
£400

Ted Baker ‘Jeune’
The side-vents give these solid office shoes a touch of intrigue.
£70
