The thick fog that coated much of London this morning has resulted in "severe" delays at London City Airport.

Smog descended upon London this morning after a drop in temperatures last night and has affected both arrivals and departures at the airport, located in the Royal London Docks in zone 3.

"Due to adverse weather conditions there are disruptions due to low visibility," a spokeswoman for London City Airport said.

"It's starting to lift now but there will be severe delays and knock-on effects throughout the day."

Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for further information about their travel, while further updates will be available on London City Airport's Twitter account @LondonCityAir.
