Parker ready to tell Allardyce: I want to quit West Ham
WEST HAM captain Scott Parker has confirmed he intends to tell new manager Sam Allardyce that he wants to quit the club for a return to the Premier League.
The midfielder, 30, has only a few seasons left and is not prepared to wait and see whether Allardyce can guide the Hammers back into the top flight at the first attempt.
Tottenham and Arsenal are thought to be interested in the man voted Football Writers’ Player of the Year – and Parker is preparing to ask for a move in order to safeguard his England career. “Oh yeah, for sure,” said Parker, who played in the 2-2 draw with Switzerland. “That’s where everyone wants to play, in the Premier League, and I’m no different. I’m sure he’ll give me a call and we’ll go through things.”
The former Charlton and Chelsea star insists he has given little thought to who his next club might be and, following Saturday’s match at Wembley, is prepared to put thoughts of his next destination on the back-burner.
He added: “As soon as that game ended, I think my main focus was having a rest and just shutting the body down.”
