FOOTBALL: West Ham have received a much-needed early season boost after captain Scott Parker committed his future to the club until 2014.

The 29-year-old midfielder was named as the only Hammer not for sale by co-owner David Sullivan earlier this year but was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham over the summer.

Parker said: “I am just absolutely delighted to have signed the contract. Everyone knows I enjoy playing my football here.”
