Park Lane’s latest rentals show the recession is over

NICKY Haslam is probably best known for attending pretty much every party to be held in London since about 1964. However, when he’s not sipping bubbly and exchanging bon mots with the global jet set, his day job is designing their homes. When it comes to living in sumptuous style, Haslam really did write the book on it – his 2002 work Sheer Opulence is a guide to achieving the most lavish interior design imaginable – and he’s still turning grand properties into even grander ones.

If you just want to get a taste of living in Haslam-designed splendour, you can – for the small sum of £25,000 a week. That’s what anyone renting one of two spectacular Park Lane apartments with new interiors by Haslam will need to cough up for the privilege. The four bedroom, duplex properties, each with 5,000 feet of floor space, boast 360 degree views over Hyde Park and the across the capital, and contain sweeping staircases, reception rooms fit for magnificent banquets, vast bedrooms and the most cutting edge audio-visual tech. The bathrooms alone are works of wonder, lined with rare Italian marble and containing – but of course – some of the largest shower heads in Europe. There are numerous antiques and art works, while decorative plaster mouldings, double height doors and windows, and bespoke furniture all add to a sense of unbridled swank.

Situated in Avenfield House on what’s arguably London’s most prestigious street, deep-pocketed tenants will be able to use a car lift for parking their Bentleys, while a concierge is on call 24 hours a day.

£25,000 per week per penthouse.
