Pandemic has changed work attitudes of some young people

The Covid-19 pandemic may have changed how we work in more ways than remote working. New research shows 85 per cent of young professionals have permanently changed their attitude towards work due to the pandemic.

Analysis carried out by professional social network platform Polywork shows virtual ways of working have opened up more work possibilities for 74 per cent of 21- to 40-year-olds in the last 12 months.  

As such, more young professionals are working multiple jobs, such as beta testing new products, mentoring and public speaking. This trend is especially popular in software engineering, design, music, and fashion industries

According to Polywork’s community data, workers are also willing to sacrifice big salaries to keep things interesting, as almost two thirds say an ‘exciting’ professional life is more important to them than money. 

Polywork founder Peter Johnston, an ex-Googler and founder of freelancer management platform Kalo, told City PM shows “people are rejecting the single job titles” and instead want to work in “multiple ways at once on their own terms”.
