Private equity firm PAI Partners is reportedly preparing a bid for a food group behind a brace of UK brands including Linda McCartney, Hartley’s jam, and Mary Berry desserts.

The Paris-based firm is in discussions about a possible acquisition of Hain Daniels Group, the UK arm of US-based firm Hain Celestial, Sky News reported.

Hain Daneils, which is based in West Yorkshire is one of the largest food producers in the UK, and is behind brands including the New Covent Garden Soup Co and Sun Pat peanut butter.

The company employs around 2,800 people across its 12 UK locations, according to its website.

Parent company Hain Celestial reported in August that sales in its UK business had fallen six per cent.

PAI Partners declined to comment on the reports. City PM has contacted Hain Daniels for comment.
