ICE SCULPTURE COMES TO CANARY WHARF
If it’s a winter challenge that combines skill, beauty and speed, it must be ice-sculpting. Five teams from Europe descend on the Wharf this week to compete against the clock to carve 2m square blocks of ice into shapes suggestive of commerce and adventure, such as ships riding big waves. Try your hand with a chisel and chainsaw in one of the masterclasses on offer both days. 15 Jan (9am-8pm) and 16 Jan (8am-2pm) Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf, E14.

COURTESAN TEA AT THE METROPOLITAN
Park Lane’s sexy Met Bar just got sexier with an afternoon tea for seductresses – or those who want to learn the arts of seduction. The afternoon kicks off with a Modern Courtesan cocktail, an aphrodisiac-inspired Afternoon De-Light menu (healthy cakes and sarnies) and entertaining insights from leading experts on the subject of seduction.?Next tea is 16 Jan. BURN’S NIGHT FEAST AT ST PANCRAS GRAND
Toast Scotland’s favourite poet in St Pancras Grand’s whisky bar. A cocktail and some bagpiper tunes kick off the night; if you’re wearing a kilt you can expect a free glass of fizz. Then it’s on for dinner: a three course Searcys menu with Scotch broth, haggis, neeps and tatties and finished off with raspberry, whisky and oatmeal-crammed Cranachan. £40 for three courses. 25 Jan at St Pancras Grand, Upper Concourse, St Pancras International, NW1 2QP.
