WAITING FOR GODOT RETURNS
Acting heavyweights Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart made the revival of Samuel Beckett’s masterpiece one of the year’s stand-out theatrical events. The show is going to be back at the Theatre Royal Haymarket for 11 weeks early next year. Stewart won’t be returning, but John Rees will be stepping ably into his shoes in the role of Vladimir, opposite McKellen’s Estragon. 21 Jan-3 Apr 2010, Theatre Royal Haymarket, SW1Y 4HT. Tickets £11-£48.50 from www.trh.co.uk

KNITTING FOR MEN
Knitting’s become a fashionable pastime for women lately – so perhaps it’s time men got in on the act. That’s the thinking at Sloane Square department store Peter Jones, anyway, where men only Christmas knitting classes are running every Tuesday at midday for the rest of the month. Experts are on hand to enable blokes to give their grannies a Christmas scarf for once, instead of the other way around. 12pm, Peter Jones, Sloane Square, SW1E 5NN. www.peterjones.co.uk
