FAHRENHEIT TWINS AT THE BARBICAN
There’s seasonal fun of a very cold kind at the Barbican, taking you into the world of two siblings who live with their scientist parents on a remote Arctic exploration station. This adaptation of Michel Faber’s novel is devised and performed by two person stage company Told By An Idiot (Hayley Carmichael and Paul Hunter), known for their inventiveness and talent for physical humour. Until 5 Dec, Barbican Pit, Barbican Centre, Silk Street, EC2Y 8DS. Tickets £15 from www.barbican.org.uk

ICE SKATING AT SOMERSET HOUSE
The Christmas season is truly upon us when London’s ad hoc ice skating rinks open for action. The most atmospheric of these is set to be Skate at Somerset House. As befitting something sponsored by jewellery company Tiffany & Co, it’ll be full of sparkle and colour, overlooked by a huge Christmas tree. There’s also the Skate Cafe  & Bar, plus the Tiffany Tuck shop with jewellery, cupcakes and other treats. Until 24 Jan, Somerset House, The Strand. For more info visit www.somersethouse.org.uk WC2R 1LA

THE SEA AT THE BRIDEWELL THEATRE
The Sea came to the stage in 1973 but Edward Bond’s satirical look at life in an Edwardian coastal village has been revived by the Tower Theatre company. The play centres on a claustrophobic Norfolk community, which has been torn apart by the drowning of a young man. But hurry, it’s only showing this week.
Until 21 Nov, The Bridewell Theatre, Bride Lane (off Fleet Street), EC4Y 8EQ. Tickets £11 from the Tower Theatre Box Office on 020 7226 3633 or visit www.towertheatre.org.uk/boxo.htm
