WRIGHT BROS
Borough Market can be a bit variable, but this venerable (well, seven-year-old) oyster bar is one that you can guarantee to deliver, especially when there’s an R in the month. It’s a good bet if you like a bit of difference with your oysters, too: try the plate of three with wasabi.

BENTLEY’S OYSTER BAR AND GRILL
If you had a restaurant on Swallow Street, you’d just have to make it an oyster bar, wouldn’t you? This place has been here since the 1910s, but has had a rebirth under the ownership of Richard Corrigan. At around £14 for nine, it’s relatively well-priced, too.

HIX OYSTER AND CHOP HOUSE
The location next to Smithfield Market makes this a mecca for foodies, but wherever it was the quality of the grub would bring them in. Six varieties of bivalve – ranging from £1.95 to £3.20 each – should keep addicts happy.
36-37 Greenhill Rents, Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6BN, tel: 020 7017 1930
