Oscar out to end Wembley hex in Spurs cup final

CHELSEA midfielder Oscar is desperate to end his dismal run at Wembley when the Blues meet Tottenham to contest the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.

The Brazil playmaker has lost on all three occasions that he has played at the home of English football: for his country in the London 2012 Olympics gold medal match against Mexico; in an international friendly defeat to Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions the following year; and just weeks later, when Manchester City beat Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.

This weekend gives the 23-year-old the chance to make amends and, he hopes, boost the Stamford Bridge side’s hopes of further glory in the Premier League and Europe.

“I want to win there because every time I’ve played there I haven’t won,” he said. “Wembley is like the perfect stadium. The pitch is perfect, the ground is beautiful and the atmosphere is great.

“Everyone is very excited because we all know it’s a big game and we have been training every day towards winning this game. We are all very motivated and we really want to have this trophy.

“If we win it then it can give us even more confidence for the Premier League and the Champions League. When you win one title you feel great. We will try to do that on Sunday.”
