Battle of the Nigels: Farage vs Askew as Ukip to take on the Reality party in South Thanet

Russell Brand has been making the headlines as a pop culture icon-cum-political revolutionary lately, but he certainly isn’t the only one. Let’s not forget Bez from the Happy Mondays and his Reality party.

Someone who is unlikely to forget is Ukip’s Nigel Farage, as he’ll be up against one of its candidates in his battle for South Thanet next May.

Nigel Askew, a photographer and pub landlord from Ramsgate, is standing for the Reality party in South Thanet. And, as you might imagine, it’s been dubbed the Battle of the Nigels.

Askew has already picked up some interesting supporters. Vivienne Westwood’s son and Agent Provocateur founder Joe Corre has said he’s backing Askew. As is Bez, naturally.

Whatever the result of the election, we’ll be down his boozer, The Queen Charlotte, for a beer afterwards.
