Olympic chiefs: We will cope with ticket demand say
LONDON 2012 organisers are confident they are equipped to cope with the increased demand for Olympic tickets following the release of the key dates for next year’s Games.
Tickets do not go on sale for another month, but organisers advised that there is no advantage in rushing to register interest via the 2012 ticketing website. A London 2012 spokesperson said: “We are confident we have the systems in place to cope with an increase in interest and demand for tickets. There is no rush for people wishing to register with us, it’s not a first come, first served system.
“We believe there are enough options in terms of ticket prices to ensure everyone gets to see some of the action and we’re confident that the venues will be full even for the more obscure events.”

The London Organising Committee (LOCOG) have made innovative attempts to ensure the general public aren’t priced out of attending the headline events. Tickets costing £2012 for the opening ceremony, £725 for the 100m final may appeal only to those with the largest budgets, however. For those with smaller wallets, tickets for the heats of major athletic events cost just £20 and concessions tickets are available. A “pay your age” scheme will also allow children under 16 to pay between £1 and £16 depending on their age and over 60s will pay £60.
