Newmarket betting tips: Double Lady to prove she’s Oh So Sharp for Andre Fabre

By: Bill Esdaile

LEGENDARY French trainer Andre Fabre would be the first to admit that he’s had a slightly indifferent season.

However, three years ago he saddled Miss France to win Friday's  Oh So Sharp Stakes before she came back the following spring to claim the 1,000 Guineas.

Fabre fires another bullet this afternoon (2.05pm) and I’m going to take the hint.

DOUBLE LADY has just her third career start having broken her maiden tag at Maisons-Laffitte last month.

Prior to that she was second on debut to Toulifaut who won her next two starts before suffering a luckless package in the Prix Marcel Boussac at Chantilly on Sunday.

Fabre simply doesn’t bring horses over to the UK unless he feels they have a serious chance and Double Lady should be backed at 3/1 with Betway who are giving money back if your horse finishes second in this race.

The Fillies’ Mile (3.10pm) looks fairly open, but it was impossible not to be impressed with Godolphin’s SOBETSU when she bolted up over course and distance a few weeks ago.

You have to be a little bit special to win a Newmarket maiden by 10 lengths and, although this is clearly a huge step up, she really could be anything.

I’ve not been blown away by either of Aidan O’Brien’s runners, Hydrangea or Rhododendron. Of course they have to be respected, along with Spatial and Rich Legacy, but I’m happy to side with Sobetsu at 5/2 with Betway.

My final selection is TYLERY WONDER in the sprint handicap at York (3.55pm). He’s run two excellent races since joining Paul Midgley and could be ready to strike here from a good draw.
