Weston Homes is building a £350m riverside development in Barking that will see 1,089 new one, two and three bedroom apartments built in the area.

Alongside residential space, the new Abbey Quay development will feature 22,281 square feet of commercial and leisure space, which will include a restaurant, local shops, cafes, a gym and a community hub.

Prices will start at £327,000 for a one bedroom apartment, with local residents living or working in the borough able to apply for a discount market sale apartment, priced from £275,000 for a one bedroom place.

First-time buyers can pay a £500 reservation fee and a five per cent deposit on their chosen space.

Each apartment has its own balcony or terrace space.

The first occupations are expected in Spring 2023.

Bob Weston, chairman and chief executive of Weston Homes, said: “Abbey Quays is a new waterfront urban village adjacent to Barking town centre, which brings aspirational and affordable waterfront living to Barking.

“Delivering striking new buildings, riverside public spaces and new retail and commercial facilities, the new community will provide much needed affordable housing for Londoners and complement the existing town centre.”
